Cohasset METCO Program (CMP)

The Metropolitan Council For Educational Opportunity (METCO) was established in 1966 and funded under the Racial Imbalance Act of Massachusetts. It is a voluntary desegregation program formed through the cooperative efforts of urban and suburban parents and educators. The mission is  “to provide, through professional leadership and voluntary citizen action, the development and promotion of quality integrated educational opportunities for urban and suburban students in the Greater Boston community and to work towards the expansion of a collaborative education program with the Boston and suburban school systems.”    Cohasset currently has 50 slots available for Boston resident students in grades K-12. Enrollment is based on annual program funding, available seating, and the completion of the intake process. It has been a METCO community since 1968.
